What could bring together police officers, college students and the
New Brunswick business community?
…a desire to make a difference in the fight against cancer in their own backyard.

New Brunswick — Individuals through-out New Jersey can join the fight against cancer on Sunday, October 1, 2006 when the Rutgers University Police Department hosts its annual High Speed Chase for the Cure! 5K Walk/Run to benefit the Patient Relief Fund at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ). This year's race is in partnership with the Rutgers Student Movement Against Cancer, a student organization dedicated to helping the fight against cancer, and the Rutgers Daily Targum. The race is sponsored by Citigroup Smith Barney of New Brunswick.

The 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Louis Brown Athletic Center (the RAC) on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers University. Check-in is 8:00am and the race will begin at 9:30am. Registration is $25 and $15 for students. For more information, to make a gift, or to download registration form visit: http://www.cinj.org/Foundation/, call: 732-235-8614 or e-mail: highspeedchaseforthecure@umdnj.edu.

In 2003, the Rutgers University Police Officers organized this annual race to honor 26- year veteran of the Rutgers Police Department, Detective Robert "MAC" McIntyre who lost his life to cancer in 1999. The annual event raises money to assist cancer patients with financial needs they may have during treatment including the purchase of medications, medical supplies and equipment, transportation to and from CINJ on treatments days and other necessities.

The Cancer Institute of New Jersey is New Jersey's first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is dedicated to improving the prevention, detection, treatment and care of patients with cancer. CINJ's physician-scientists engage in translational research, transforming their laboratory discoveries into clinical practice-quite literally bringing research to life. The Cancer Institute of New Jersey is a Center of Excellence of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. To support CINJ, please call The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Foundation at 732/235-8614.
