Judge Stern Meets with President Petillo: Initial Meeting at UMDNJ Monday

NEWARK, NJ (1/6/06)—Former federal prosecutor Herbert J. Stern will meet with John Petillo, president of the University of Medicine and Dentistry, on Monday, Jan. 9.

The meeting will be the first since UMDNJ’s Board of Trustees ratified an agreement last week with U.S. Attorney Chris Christie’s office regarding financial oversight of the University.

“We welcome Judge Stern and are eager to work with him,” said President Petillo. “We intend to right the wrongs we’ve inherited, demand accountability and to ensure that UMDNJ continues its mission of care, research and education.”

This week Judge Stern requested a number of documents for review, and staff has begun compiling them.
