In response to the December 20, 2005 meeting with US Attorney Christopher Christie, John J. Petillo, President issued the following statement:

NEWARK, NJ (12/21/05)—"We all want the same thing - a university above reproach with everyone held accountable. A federal monitor regarding our financial operations should allow us to accelerate the reforms we have already instituted, and we are grateful for that.

In the meantime, we will stay the course. We will continue to deliver healthcare to the 2 million whose lives we touch annually, educate New Jersey’s future physicians, and advance the cause of science through research."
