Annual Match Day on March 18
Fourth-year Medical Students Will Learn
Where They Will Do Hospital Residencies
The future of fourth-year students at the two allopathic medical
schools of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
(UMDNJ) will be decided during the annual National Resident Match
Day ceremonies on Thursday, March 18, at the Newark, New Brunswick
and Camden campuses.
At an emotionally-charged ceremony at noon at UMDNJ-New Jersey
Medical School in Newark and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical
School in New Brunswick and Camden, more than 250 anxious future
physicians will learn where they will begin their internships
following graduation in May.
This same scene will be replicated at medical schools throughout
the nation as part of National Resident Matching Program, which
is based in Washington, D.C. The program matches student requests--compiled
in order of choice--to residency openings at hospitals nationwide.
