Kenny Loggins Concert at NJPAC Supports Multiple Sclerosis Research

Kenny Loggins will be this year's featured performer at the 5th annual "Musical Moments for MS," a benefit concert to raise funds for multiple sclerosis research at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). The concert will take place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m.

Murray and Lee Kushner, of Livingston, N.J., founders of "Musical Moments for MS," are serving as co-chairs for the event for the fifth year.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Kenny Loggins as our entertainer this year," said Mr. & Mrs. Kushner. "His fans have a great opportunity to see a terrific concert in an intimate venue while they support a very worthy cause. We know it is going to be a great night."

Proceeds from prior "Musical Moments for MS" concerts have established two endowed professorships in multiple sclerosis research at the Neurological Institute of New Jersey at UMDNJ to further advance MS research.

Dr. Stuart D. Cook, president of UMDNJ and internationally recognized for his contributions to the field of multiple sclerosis, holds the Ruth Dunietz Kushner and Michael J. Serwitz chair for Multiple Sclerosis Research. UMDNJ is currently conducting a nationwide search to identify a world-class neuroscientist to fill the Rena Warshow Chair in Multiple Sclerosis, the second endowed professorship established with proceeds from the galas.

At this year's event, five individuals will be presented with awards.

  • Gerald H. Lipkin, chairman, president & CEO of Valley National Bank, will receive the Corporate Excellence Award;
  • Dr. Sandra O. Gold, executive vice president and Dr. Arnold P. Gold, founder and president of The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, will receive the Humanitarian Award;
  • Dr. John W. Prineas, professor of neurology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Sydney in Australia, will receive the Medical Excellence Award;
  • Actor Tony Randall will receive the Artistic Excellence Award.

Tickets for the gala range in price from $500 to $2,500 and are available by calling (908) 781-8418 ext. 15 or by e-mail at MusicforMS@aol.com. Tickets for the concert only are available for $20 and $30 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center box office or by calling
