University Behavioral HealthCare Supports May 18 Walk for the Mentally Ill

Several hundred people from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's University Behavioral HealthCare (UBHC) will be participating in the inaugural New Jersey walk sponsored by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill on May 18, beginning at 1 p.m. in Mount Holly.

UBHC, a statewide network, is one of the largest providers of mental health services in the country. Its mission is to care for the most seriously affected by this disease, regardless of their ability to pay.

Through government funding and private grants, UBHC has established a wide array of mental health services for the seriously mentally ill adults and at risk children and families across New Jersey. With centers in some of the neediest communities, UBHC provides crisis intervention, case management and outreach services

UBHC is on the forefront of teaching the latest and most innovative treatment paradigms through its national training institute "Partners for Excellence in Psychiatry". The Institute trains health care professionals from mental health organizations nationwide in the most cutting-edge

approaches to treating the most severe and persistently mentally ill, with the goal of reintegrating these individuals back into their communities
