Growth Over the Next Decade
Sponsored by The Council for Higher Education in Newark
Newark's re-emergence as one of the nation's premier cities for
innovative business development will be the focus of presentations
to top business and community leaders when they convene on Thursday,
March 20, for an economic summit on the largest city in New Jersey.
The second annual Summit on the Development of University/Business
Partnerships will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on the Newark
campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
(UMDNJ). The event is sponsored by the Council on Higher Education
in Newark (CHEN), the City of Newark, the Regional Business Partnership,

institutions are UMDNJ, Rutgers/Newark, the New Jersey Institute

Built on the theme of "Destination Newark 2013: A Regional Anchor,"
the conferees will look at how Newark's rapidly expanding vitality
in many sectors is positioning the city as a major regional business
hub in the Northeast corridor and especially the tri-state area.

concluded that Newark's economic resurgence is a result of strong
public/private partnerships in sectors such as technology development,
housing, and higher education.

followed by Dr. A. Zachary Yamba, Essex County College president,
